Before becoming a radio show, the Alex Abernathy Show was debuted as the "Combatting the Madness" Podcast in August of 2020. The show spawned as a result of Alex seeing a need in the news media market for a strong, young conservative voice who would rationally talk about the values of conservatism.

Alex spent years in sports radio before making the jump to news where he became a news anchor on Newstalk 98.7 in Knoxville. Alex worked on broadcasts of Rush Limbaugh, Dan Bongino, and Hallerin Hilton Hill. Today, Alex describes his broadcast style as "the love child of Rush Limbaugh, Ben Shapiro, Clay Travis and Hallerin Hilton Hill."
